Each Other

Everyone deserves to be treated with respect
No one is a reject
One life like skimming stones across a pond has a ripple effect
No one deserves abuse or neglect

One life touches another
All are your sister and brother
Be kind to all my dad would say
You never know who you might need some day

Sadly this hasn’t been my reality
People don’t see me
They see my disability
They call me disabled
That is how I have been labeled
I am not disabled I am differently abled

Everyone is different no one is the same
Life is a game
You have to know how to play
My dad would say you want something be a go getter
Treat everyone equally because against anyone you are no better
They should put that in a Hallmark card or love letter

That is not reality
Not for me
I am treated differently
I don’t know what will be
But we can’t stand by and allow racism and bigotry

If everyone was the same this world would be insane
Too vanilla Too Plain
There would be nothing to gain
From being unique
I know of what I speak
In terms of people never judge a book by its cover
The world would be a better place if we had respect and accepted each other

Gerard Tanella

I love creative writing. The loss of a loved one and the isolation were the most difficult part of this crisis.
