Thom Heyer

I've been thinking about the randomness of life and how ruthless this randomness has been during the COVID-19 pandemic. None of it is fair and none of it makes sense to me. I've been trying to sort out how this whole experience has felt specifically in my life on Roosevelt Island . I wanted to express it in a visual way. We have many elderly on the island and many people with compromised bodies specifically at Coler Hospital. How can I bear witness to my daily experience here & what that feels like as an individual and as a community? I came up with the metaphor of tarot cards & how they are a random "luck of the draw" that informs our lives & futures.......These images are my version of tarot cards & this experience. They are still a work-in-progress......
