Poetry Circle

When I say Poetry, y’all say Circle

Poetry. Circle. Poetry. Circle.

Welcome to the OPEN DOORS Poetry Circle

The circle where I can turn to my left and my right

The inner circle, circle of trust, the circle if u got something on ya mind u can fuss

The circle where u don't have to feel or be alone, we all a part of this circle so we all one

Poetry Circle. I got a poem, u got a poem, let's share

We shout n scream loud enough the world gonna hear, so they ain't got no other choice but to care

Today is the day we speak, today is the day we teach, today is the day we outreach

Today is the day every poet came out, to join n say a poem...

Poetry Circle this our home!

Alhassan “EL” Abdulfattah

EL was born and raised in Fort Greene, and spent his childhood between Brooklyn and the Bronx with his parents and four siblings, with whom he is very close. In a case of mistaken identity, El was shot in a drive-by shooting in 2012 that left him paralyzed from the waist down. Today, El is a core member of the OPEN DOORS Design Team, using bold graphics to creatively inspire and uplift the community.
